Annual meeting: NMD-Portugal
On November 17th-18th, 2023, the annual meeting of the NMD-Neurogastroenterology and Digestive Motility Nucleus of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology took place at the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology in Lisbon. This event, tailored for gastroenterology trainees, focused on the theme "Disruption of gut-brain interaction: the fundamentals of science."

That was TANDEM 2023 – the ESNM Young Investigator Meeting
As it was the aim for the past TANDEM meetings, also the 4th nEUROgastro TANDEM meeting in 2023 was creating a platform for building up successful collaborations, reinforcing the cross-talk between clinical and basic research and creating a European network of young investigators and bring together a new set of valuable expertise to discover new knowledge in the scientific field of Neurogastroenterology.

A very interesting book, that describes Marcello Costas research life and many important moments, including the founding of the Australian Neuroscience Society and his role in the development of ENS research in Australia.
Acknowledging Excellence in Science – Awardees of NeuroGASTRO 2023
Each year, the ESNM biennial meeting Scientific Committee recognizes the highest scoring abstracts. There are three overall highest scoring abstract prizes and another five Young Investigator Awards, and we extend our sincere congratulations to this year's winners of "NeuroGASTRO 2023" in Bucharest.
Paul Enck receives ESNM Lifetime Achievement Award
Without him ESNM, would not be where it is today! Congratulations to Professor Paul Enck for receiving the ESNM Lifetime Achievement Award. Paul was one of the founders of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology & Motility, and of the international young investigator meeting "Little Brain Big Brain". He pioneered the work of brain-gut axis, motility, placebo/nocebo etc. His lecture was entitled “Does the gut think, and if so, what does it think of”.
Our successful biennial meeting "NeuroGASTRO 2023" in Bucharest
Close to 500 delegates from over 46 countries attended the biennial NeuroGASTRO 2023 meeting in Bucharest from Aug 31st to Sept 2nd, with the excitement palpable as we returned to a face-to-face meeting for the first time since 2019. Key opinion leaders presented the state-of-the-art developments in the field of Neurogastroenterology and Motility. It was particularly inspiring to see the quality and breadth of topics presented by young scientists, via both oral and poster presentations.
