Patients with disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) report that food intake is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms. DGBI patients with meal-related symptoms may have more severe symptoms and poorer health overall, but this subgroup has not been well characterized. This study by Esther Colomier et al. set out to describe the global prevalence of meal-related abdominal pain and characterize this subgroup, using the data set originated from the population-based Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Study.

80 participants from different disciplines joined the 29th annual meeting of the German Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (DGNM) from February 26 to 27, 2022. Because of ongoing restrictions due to the SARS-COV2 pandemic, the meeting took place online.
