Graphic Abstract: The importance of meal-related pain across the globe 

Patients with disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) report that food intake is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms. DGBI patients with meal-related symptoms may have more severe symptoms and poorer health overall, but this subgroup has not been well characterized. This study by Esther Colomier et al. set out to describe the global prevalence of meal-related abdominal pain and characterize this subgroup, using the data set originated from the population-based Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Study.

Graphic Abstract: Delayed gastric emptying a predictor of mortality

Gastroparesis is defined as delayed gastric emptying associated with upper gastrointestinal symptoms. There is no systematic study that has addressed the impact of gastroparesis on mortality, based on gastric emptying measurement. Gourcerol et al. assessed whether delayed gastric emptying was predictive of mortality.

LBBB Germany 2022

 

For more than 20 years, the forum for young and more experienced scientists has been themed "Little Brain" (enteric nervous system) and "Big Brain" (central nervous system). In 2022, the LBBB meeting will be held in Heiligkreuztal Monastery (Baden-Württemberg, Germany), and the application deadline is May 15, 2022.

Annual Meeting: DGNM 2022

80 participants from different disciplines joined the 29th annual meeting of the German Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (DGNM) from February 26 to 27, 2022. Because of ongoing restrictions due to the SARS-COV2 pandemic, the meeting took place online.

Annual Meeting: NMD, Portugal

On 19th-20th November 2021, the annual meeting of the Neurogastroenterology and Digestive Motility Nucleus of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology was held. This face-to-face meeting was addressed to Gastroenterology Trainees and took place at the headquarters of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology in Lisbon.
