Gut Microbiota for Health
With the establishment of a section of ESNM devoted to Gut Microbiota for Health (GMFH) in 2011, ESNM not only significantly enlarged its range of topics of interest, but also gained more members from areas outside neurogastroenterology and gastroenterology, specifically microbiology and the nutritional sciences. The GMFH Section with its repeatedly recognised multilingual (English, French, Spanish) blog and website reaches more than 111,000 regular readers and followers.
GMFH - The place for scientific debate
The Gut Microbiota for Health Section is an initiative of the ESNM with the institutional support of Biocodex, Danone and Sanofi. Gut Microbiota, and their role on human health and disease is a booming area of research, presenting a new paradigm full of opportunities for medical and food applications.
To achieve this, the section will:
- Stimulate & encourage research in the field of Gut Microbiota & Health
- Provide a forum for dissemination of novel discoveries
- Promote science & educational activities to widely disseminate the knowledge in this field

GM&H organises annual summits alternating between Europe and the US, based on a collaboration with the American Gastroenterology Association.
