Call for the next President of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility
Dear ESNM Members,
We herewith would like to invite you to nominate a suitable colleague or personally apply for the position of ESNM President for a four-year term starting Fall 2024 with possibility of re-election. The Steering Committee will propose the candidate to the General Assembly for final ratification. Formal criteria You must submit your nomination via email to info@esnm.eu until Wednesday February 7, 2024.
The mandatory documents for nomination are:

- Curriculum Vitae (1 page, A4)
- Ideally Supporting letter from your National Society
Job description
Over the past ten years ESNM has become a leading society in the gastroenterology scenario in Europe actively involved in education and research through its participation as UEG member society and collaborations at European and international levels. Consequently, the responsibility of the future president will be to continue this expansion on these grounds and develop strategies to strengthen and position the society. The President will work alongside with the Treasurer, forming an Executive Committee, supported by an active and well-organized Steering Committee. Being the president of ESNM requests to represent and act on behalf of the society in all matters (communication with national societies, UEG, sponsors and supporters, sub-sections, other societies, and the official society journal Neurogastroenterology and Motility). In addition, the president is the official representative of the society together with the Treasurer in all legal matters.
Personal requirements
The candidate should have long-standing experience in field of neurogastroenterology and motility as well as a strong scientific track record and leading personality. We welcome evidence of expertise in coordinating research and training in the respective fields. A global mindset and experience in committee work, cooperation with other societies, initiatives and the UEG, as well as industry partners is highly desirable. As president you need to be enthusiastic, engaged, and aware of your important role in executing decisions in the sense of ESNM. You must be able to demonstrate commitment to the aims of the society. We recommend studying our Statutes.
Volunteer time commitment
You should be ready to commit time to work for and on behalf of the society on a daily basis, mainly via email. Peak times are usually before the Steering Committee Meeting (2-3 times a year) and the months before the biennial NeuroGASTRO meeting. You should also commit to travel and chair at least two face-to-face steering committee meetings per year, the main scientific events, including the biennial NeuroGASTRO meeting and the biennial Federation of Neurogastroenterology and Motility Meetings as well as the several UEG meetings in which the ESNM president is invited.
