Neurogastroenterology and Portuguese Digestive Week 2024
The annual meeting of the Portuguese Digestive Week was held from June 20-22, 2024. Neurogastroenterology was the focus of the postgraduate course, which saw high participation with a total of 222 attendees.
The programme covered the following topics:
- The different faces of digestive discomfort: Abdominal pain and dyspepsia; Abdominal pain in IBS; Digestive manifestations of joint hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos; What is the role of atopy and mastocytosis in abdominal pain?
- Conference: Abdominal pain: the ultimate biopsychosocial frontier
- Air and the digestive tract: Upper digestive tract: eructations, aerophagia and rumination; Lower digestive tract: are all abdominal distensions the same?; Diet as a fermentation modulator
- Conference: The role of psychological and behavioral therapy in diseases of the brain-intestine axis: roadmap for the Gastroenterologist
At Portuguese Digestive Week 2024, a Round Table was also held dedicated to news in Neurogastroenterology and digestive motility, covering the following topics:
- Spotlight on esophageal pathology: Gastroesophageal reflux 2.0; Esophageal planimetry: indications and new applications;
- Spotlight on Neurogastroenterology: Overlapping pathologies of the brain-intestine axis: the new paradigm; Gastroparesis: from diagnosis to treatment.
The meeting was very successful in training and disseminating new developments in neurogastroenterology with high participation.
