Gut Microbiota for Health 2026 | Porto, Portugal
How can we move from microbiome associations to interventions that truly change clinical practice?
The Gut Microbiota for Health 2026 in Porto is dedicated to answering exactly this question, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and nutrition experts to translate microbiome science into evidence-based care.
The 14th edition of the Gut Microbiota for Health Summit will take place on March 14–15, 2026, in Porto, Portugal, returning this leading international meeting to Europe. Held at a time when southern Europe already offers pleasant spring temperatures, Porto provides an inspiring setting for two days of high-level scientific exchange.
GMFH 2026 is a premier international forum dedicated to the role of the gut microbiota in health and disease. The meeting is aimed at a broad and diverse audience, including microbiome scientists, healthcare physicians, nutritionists, and dietitians, and is particularly relevant for clinicians and researchers working in neurogastroenterology and related fields.
The central theme of the 2026 Summit is “Diet and other ways to manipulate the gut microbiome in clinical practice.” The scientific programme will feature plenary lectures, interactive workshops, and in-depth discussions with internationally recognised experts, focusing on:
- The impact of dietary patterns, probiotics, prebiotics, and postbiotics on shaping the gut microbiome, including ultra-processed foods, dietary fibres, exclusions, and plant-based diets
- New insights into the links between diet, gut microbiota, and cardiometabolic health
- Practical, case-based workshops addressing dietary strategies in IBD, IBS, liver diseases, and cancer
- Advances in microbiome-derived therapies, from live biotherapeutic products and dietary interventions to fecal microbiota transplantation in IBD, IBS, and cancer
- The evolving role of the gut microbiome in cancer therapy, including strategies to enhance responses to immunotherapy
GMFH 2026 offers a unique opportunity to discuss cutting-edge research while focusing on clear clinical take-home messages and interdisciplinary exchange between research and patient care.
