Graphic Abstract: The importance of meal-related pain across the globe
Patients with disorders of gut-brain interaction (DGBI) report that food intake is associated with gastrointestinal symptoms. DGBI patients with meal-related symptoms may have more severe symptoms and poorer health overall, but this subgroup has not been well characterized. This study by Esther Colomier et al. set out to describe the global prevalence of meal-related abdominal pain and characterize this subgroup, using the data set originated from the population-based Rome Foundation Global Epidemiology Study.
