August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month
Gastroparesis is a chronic disorder in which the stomach empties more slowly than normal, often causing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, early satiety, bloating, abdominal pain, and weight loss. As a disorder of gastrointestinal neuromuscular function, gastroparesis requires accurate diagnosis and individualized management. Ongoing research is improving our understanding of its underlying mechanisms and helping to develop better diagnostic tools and treatment options.
Throughout this month, we join the global effort to raise awareness of gastroparesis and the importance of multidisciplinary care, research, and education. Learn more about neurogastroenterology and disorders of gut–brain interaction through ESNM.
