The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several units that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.
We are seeking a bioinformatician/computational biologist to support large-scale genetic, metagenomic and other “omics”-type of research in the field of gastrointestinal (GI) disease, with focus on the genetic causes of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome and other GI conditions.

The Laboratory for Cell Biology and Histology at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences is seeking to fill the following full-time (100%) vacancy:
The Laboratory of Cell Biology and Histology is an interfaculty research group, uniting scientists from the Faculty of Biomedical, Pharmaceutical and Veterinary sciences and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Recent insights suggest that the gut may be a vulnerable (but medically accessible) node for amyloid-driven neurodegeneration. That is why we want to define the origin, entry routes and spreading behaviour of amyloid proteins in the enteric nervous system. We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled colleague who can take the daily supervision in this novel and highly exciting study, which relies on a combination of cell and tissue biology, advanced light microscopy and molecular analyses.
Further information can be found here. Application deadline February 15, 2018
All physical persons holding or training for a PhD or MD who are interested in gastrointestinal motility and neurophysiology of the gut are eligible as members to ESNM.
The Gut Microbiota & Health is an initiative of the ESNM to reasearch the booming area of Gut Microbiota, and their role on human health.
The European Society of Neurogastroenterology and Motility ESNM is composed of a Steering Committee and a General Assembly.
